"Silph Radio Main Theme"

Nathan Kappesser

Can you believe it's been two and a half years since we've heard from our good friend Phil Cobb? You may remember Phil from our early days; our very early days, in fact, as Phil holds the distinct honor of being the first Silph Radio guest host! It is a rare honor, bestowed upon few. In said inaugural episode, we teased the possibility of one day doing an episode together on the phenomenon of Pokemon breeding. Well, that day has finally come.

Playing the part of the expert, Phil Cobb breaks down the techniques frequently employed by Pokemon breeders in the main series games. That is, he explains how to chain moves onto a Pokemon, how I.V.s work, how to pass on a Pokemon's nature to it's offspring, and how to breed Pokemon with perfect (or near-perfect) stats. This is, by no means, a comprehensive guide, but if you're completely alien to how I.V. breeding works, this episode of the podcast should hopefully be able to serve as a decent foundation.

Metagaming aside, the majority of our discussion centers around the science and biology of Pokemon sex and reproduction. No, this isn't that type of podcast, calm down, hentai enthusiasts. This is a serious, adult speculation on at the fictional science behind the Pokemon franchise. Though, to be sure, we pepper the conversation with our usual brand of irreverent humor. But I like to think it remains tactful. This isn't the show for toilet humor.

Stick around after the credits for a nice, long preview of Nathan's (that's me!) recent guest appearance on Blast Burn Radio, a fellow Pokemon podcast, to take part in a round-table discussion on the business and ethics of emulation in video gaming and gamer culture. It's a really fantastic conversation between myself and BBR hosts Celes, Jolly By Nature, and Messer Engine. We cover all sorts of ground you're not even expecting. That well runs deep. Here's a link to the full episode (which I'm sure can also be found on your podcast app of choice)...

I sincerely hope you enjoy our newest episode! We've got another one on the way soon, featuring a union between two guest hosts who have yet to appear together! Keep your radio tuned for more. Thanks for listening! Enjoy your week!

~Nathan K.
